Land Grading Services

Professional land grading and yard leveling

When your property isn’t properly graded, water doesn’t flow — it sits. Poor grading can lead to:

• Foundation problems

• Water pooling near your home

• Uneven lawns and standing water

• Dead grass and plant beds

• Cracked concrete or patios

Deepwoods Lawn & Landscaping provides expert land grading and yard leveling services to improve drainage, protect your home, and create a clean, build-ready surface. Whether you're installing landscaping or prepping for construction, we’ll make sure your ground is sloped and shaped the right way.

Fixing the grade is the first step to building your dream patio, let us help!

Shape Your Property the Right Way

Proper land grading ensures rainwater flows away from your house, not toward it. We'll assess your property, determine low spots, and use professional equipment to regrade the soil as needed — without tearing up your whole yard.

You’ll receive a plan for corrections and pricing upfront. All work is done to code, guaranteed, and backed by 20+ years of experience right here in Louisiana.

Frequently Asked

Questions

Here are answers to common questions about our landscaping services. Explore how we can enhance your outdoor space and address any queries you may have about our expertise and offerings.

Land Grading

Why does my yard need grading in the first place?

Proper grading moves water away from your foundation, prevents pooling, and sets up a smooth base for lawns, patios, or driveways—no more swampy spots or trip hazards.

How much soil do you typically remove or add?

For most residential lots we shift 2–8 inches, but we shoot for a gentle 2% slope (≈ ¼ inch per foot) away from structures. Final cut/fill depth depends on existing elevations and drainage goals.

Will grading tear up my existing lawn or landscaping?

Some disruption is unavoidable, but we use low-impact equipment, work in tight passes, and re-seed/lay sod afterward. Most lawns bounce back (or look brand-new) within 2–3 weeks.

How long does land grading take—and can I stay in the house?

A typical quarter-acre yard is a 1- to 2-day job. You can live life as normal; we just need clear driveway access for equipment and a spot to stockpile soil if we’re hauling material in or out.
